Pulling From Scanner Hubs, but not using ScanHub makes me sick!
The Feedback
I can honestly say that if I went to our staff and ownership and said, "Hey, we're no longer using ScanHub with GreatLab," I might be tossed into the nearest landfill. Streamlining, workflows, synergies—these are all words that typical salespeople would use when describing software, but this one is different.
3 Major Advantages
Advantage #1 Singular “Lens”:
ScanHub provides one platform to view and book all of your scans via iTero, 3Shape, Medit, and DSCore. This allows us, as a lab, to designate a select group of people to exclusively enter cases for these scanners. What does this really achieve? Previously, if you walked around our lab, you would see so many tabs, downloads, and printer queues that it would seem like we were trying to hack the UN. We were not alone; many of the labs I have spoken with, and I assume some of you, were facing and are facing the same level of tabular overload (apologies for that). Consolidating to a single location seems obvious—and it was. With this "lens" of ScanHub, it reduces clicks, confusion, and labor hours.
Advantage #2 No Data Loss:
Audit Mania! There was a time when other services and tools caused PDFs, STLs, and more to go missing, items were not being attached to cases, and designs were left in limbo. What ScanHub really does is eliminate user error. If you have designers on staff, it can be as simple as saying cases A123, B234, and C456 need to be designed as soon as possible. With that, designers and anyone with access to your organization's GreatLab LMS can go in, identify those cases, obtain the prescription PDF, all necessary design files, and any case notes that may have been added. If using the "Engage Chat," the communication between the rest of the team and the office staff or doctor is also accessible. This ensures accountability and provides a timestamp of the case's entire life cycle. To emphasize, when booking cases in ScanHub, all prescriptions are attached, all files are attached, and any communication related to the case (if your lab is using GreatLab properly) will be timestamped and available for anyone to utilize—all in a feature you may not be using. With more than 30,000 cases booked in ScanHub in a short amount of time, I can assure you that you and your staff will become case booking champions in no time.
Advantage #3 Speed & Accuracy:
This one's short and sweet. Cases sync almost instantaneously. While syncing and then booking, the software will assign the practice and the doctor to the case for you. It's amazing; that's not only 2-3 clicks saved, but it also reduces the need to interpret entries and eliminates entry errors. There's also the ability to print within booking, and then assign a PAN number, turnarounds (it assigns it for you based on each scan, but if you'd like to adjust it, of course you can), and add additional notes. Now, is that THAT crazy? (Yes.) Maybe not to some, but doing it all in one swift motion, without having to click out of each case and go into the next, will reduce booking time while increasing accuracy. Don’t work for your LMS; let your LMS work for you!
6 Months In…
As I mentioned at the beginning of the article, we would be lost without ScanHub. We have booked thousands of cases with this tool and would never look back. It's smooth, fast, accurate, and the best case booking tool out there. If you already use ScanHub, more power to you. If you do not, please start today. My plea in a YouTube short and quick write-up will only go so far. Please use this tool as soon as possible if you want to improve your lab's digital entry. You will not regret it in the slightest. If you do not use GreatLab and are thinking about making the switch, ScanHub alone would be enough to influence your decision. If you truly enjoy multiple downloads, five open tabs, losing data, and angry employees, maybe this isn’t for you. But if you’d like to transition to efficiency, just link one of your scanners for now. Within a week, I can guarantee you will want to connect the others and put the case-booking debacle to rest.
