As the CDS Midwinter & Lab Day approach we need to be ready!

We like to have a little fun over at Vitality!

Please enjoy our precursor to the Midwinter extravaganza!

What worked for us!

Year 1:

My first year at Vitality was during the latter part of the COVID pandemic. (Boo, COVID!) When entering the Midwinter event, I was informed by the staff that this particular year had fewer booths, fewer people, and perhaps... less fun. ā˜¹ļø

I learned that the people moving up and down the aisle are looking for something new! However, the last thing they want to do is sit and talk about crown and bridge for an hour. During this time, I was with my current manager and VP of sales, as well as a former coworker. We had plenty of people stop by and inquire about what Vitality stood for and what it plans to do in the future. As engaging as this conversation was, I knew it wouldn't attract a line around the corner. So, I devised a plan to ensure Year 2 stood out.

Year 2:

The marketing team arrived. Let's just call it how it is—the spin-the-wheel trivia, the mini putt, the shirts, the mousepads, the vibe—absolutely put us over the top! We received word from an employee's mother that our booth had a line 10 to 15 people long! For a couple of marketing folks, this was the ultimate compliment.

Mini-Putt led to laughs, tears, and battles over who would take home the VitaliTEEs we were handing out. Nonetheless, it created a buzz that echoed not only through the McCormick Place walls but also on our socials.

In the first year of Claude.ai, the trivia was a bit off. We may have provided a few incorrect answers about diastema in movie stars, and perhaps we gave away a free electric toothbrush or two as well. However, the buzz was still there.

People returned for three consecutive days to try to win a T-shirt or a mousepad. By the last day, if they came back, they might have earned it at that point.

Year 3:

As you can see in the video above, we were quite excited! We had so much fun leading up to the event, which made it ten times more worthwhile. I started with a 120-day countdown on the whiteboard we have on our side of the building. Each day, I would mark down the days and jot down new ideas that we could execute.

We went back and forth, but we knew we had to create a teaser, which is what you see above. We had a new member of the team, and we had to make sure he was up to code.

Once he had his proper credentials, we had to make a decision: bring back mini-putt or expand on trivia.

Since trivia was something everyone could participate in and it would be fair to all parties, we decided to go for it! More questions (and more correct answers), more categories, and, of course, more fun. We also offered more shirts and newer mousepads, which were a hot commodity.

All in all it was an absolute blast!

Year 4:

Year 5:

Zirconia Collective at Lab Day - Stop by our booth... I will be dressed as a mad scientist! Stay tuned; we're going to blow the doors off this place (with fun). I have a wig, a Made in USA bow tie, a fake mustache, and a few more tricks up my sleeve.

Content-wise, we have these mega screens that will be playing some B-roll, some of our marketing content, and possibly an Evil Scientist teaser trailer (you do not want to miss this).

Party Favors? Well, you might have to stop by to earn one.

This is another venture I get to be a part of outside of Vitality & GreatLab Tips. I am excited and hope to see some of your smiling faces… even behind my lab goggles, as I am a scientist, of course.

DO NOT FORGET!! Stop by Seth and the team at the greatlab.io booth also! I will be there shucking, jiving & razzing Seth about him rubbing elbows with UK royalty!
